Places of Interest A. Dinas Island: Dinas Island is really a headland separated from the mainland by a freshwater marsh, this is managed by the national Trust and is well known for its birds and wild flowers. herring Gulls, Razorbills and Guillemots breed on Needle Rock. B. Fishguard Fort: Fishguard Fort was built in 1779-81 following a bombardment of the town by the privateer 'Black Prince'. The fort was armed with eight nine pounder guns. On 22nd february 1797 the fort fired its guns to warn off approaching French ships, but played no further part in repelling the 'last invasion'. |
